The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Sipna College of Engineering and Technology, Amravati, organized a Three-Day Workshop on “AI and Robotics” from 6th to 8th August 2026. The workshop aimed to provide students with conceptual knowledge and hands-on exposure to emerging technologies in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, with a focus on modern AI systems, Large Language Models (LLMs), Prompt Engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI Agents, intelligent automation and their applications in robotics and smart systems. The workshop featured expert sessions by Mr. Shravan Kumar IIT Kanpur Alumn, Mr. Aaditya Rosalya IIT Madras Alumni and Mr. Aruj Sharma, IIT Madras Alumni (Co-founder, ExamEvoke).
The workshop commenced on 6th August 2026 with an inaugural function. The resource persons were warmly welcomed by presenting saplings as a token of respect by the hands of respected head Dr. V. K. Shandilya ma’am. Prof. S. N. Sawalkar, Coordinator of the workshop, delivered the introductory address and presented a brief gist of the three-day programme. The inaugural function was followed by the technical sessions.
On Day 1, Mr. Shravan Kumar introduced students to the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence, the current AI landscape, LLMs, tokens, transformers, inference, Prompt Engineering, RAG and AI Agents. The session also highlighted the role of AI in robotics, intelligent automation and future smart systems, helping students understand how modern AI techniques can contribute to intelligent decision-making and automation in robotic applications.
On Day 2, Mr. Aaditya Rosalya conducted a practical and hands-on session on CampusGPT and its RAG-based architecture. The session began with an introduction to CampusGPT, its architecture and real-world use cases. Students were then guided through the complete RAG pipeline, including document ingestion, document chunking, embeddings, vector databases and information retrieval. The session further covered connecting an LLM for question answering and developing a simple AI-powered chatbot through live coding. The practical activities helped students understand how AI applications can be developed using institutional knowledge and how similar technologies can support intelligent robots, robotic decision-making and AI-driven automation.
On Day 3, Mr. Aruj Sharma focused on CampusGPT deployment and enhancements. Students learned about developing the frontend chat interface, adding conversation memory, prompt optimization, improving retrieval quality and enhancing system responses. The session also provided insights into AI-powered automation, robotics applications and performance optimization. The workshop concluded with a practical demonstration followed by an interactive question-answer and doubt-clearing session.
Overall, the workshop provided students with valuable conceptual and practical exposure to Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. Students gained an understanding of LLMs, RAG, embeddings, vector databases, AI agents and AI application development, along with insights into their applications in intelligent automation, robotics and real-world engineering solutions.
The workshop concluded with a Valedictory Function on 8th August 2026. Prof. N. D. Shelokar presented a summary of the three-day workshop and highlighted the major topics and activities covered. Dr. V. K. Shandilya, Head of the Department, expressed her appreciation for the enthusiastic participation of the students and thanked the resource persons for their valuable contribution. The resource persons also shared their thoughts and encouraged students to continue exploring AI, Robotics and other emerging technologies. Dr. S. M. Kherde, Principal, addressed the gathering and appreciated the efforts of the resource persons, faculty members and organizing team.
Participation certificates were distributed to the students by the Principal, Head of the Department and resource persons. Students also shared their feedback and appreciated the practical, interactive and industry-oriented nature of the workshop. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all the resource persons, dignitaries, organizing committee members Dr. Y. A. Thakare, Prof. A. P. Ghatol and Dr. S. W. Wasankar, faculty members, student volunteers and participants for their valuable contribution towards the successful completion of the workshop.
