About Department

Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works like roads, bridges, canals, dams, and buildings. Civil engineering is the oldest engineering discipline after military engineering, and it was defined to distinguish non-military engineering from military engineering. It is traditionally broken into several sub-disciplines. Civil engineering takes place on all levels: public sector from municipal to international companies.

To cater the needs of the society, Sipna College of Engineering & Technology, Amravati is obliged to impart quality civil engineering education by making available all requisite contemporary infrastructures, books, equipments and facilities along with well qualified faculty members.

STRENGTH OF MATERIAL LAB

Objectives:

To demonstrate the basic principles in the area of strength, mechanics of materials and structural analysis to the students through a series of experiments.
To measure the properties of materials such as impact strength, tensile strength, compressive strength and hardness through experiments.

Computerised universal testing machine of 1000 KN capacity with extensometer.
Torsion testing machine.

REINFORCED CEMENT CONCRETE LAB

Objectives:

To expose students to general construction materials and their associated quality, durability & availability.
To impart knowledge of various properties of fresh & hardened concrete and its ingredients.
To expose students to various quality control aspects of the civil engineering materials by performing different lab tests on materials.

CTM (Compression Testing Machine) having 3000 KN capacity.

GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING LAB

Objectives:

To provide students with the basic knowledge to carry out filled investigations.
To help the students to determine the type and properties of the soil, compaction strength of the soil and the strength characteristics of soil.
To help the students to determine the permeability of the soil and the amount of consolidation of the soil.

Objective

ENGINEERING MECHANICS LAB

Objective

To perform the experiments which are related to mechanics of solid object in order to understand the behaviour of solid materials especially their motion and deformation under the action of forces.
We make student perform different practical like Simple beam,different lifting machine,force & force system,moment of inertia of fly wheel,& coefficient of static friction.
To understand the vectorial & scalar representation of forces & moment .
Analyse the properties of surfaces & solids in relation to moment of inertia.

Facilities

Lab consists of simply supported beam to analyse the beam reaction, compound pendulum and to determine acceleration due to gravity.
Universal force board to verify the law of polygon.
